Improvisation #2 (Django Reinhardt)

Improvisation #2 Music by Django Reinhardt Not sure this was literally an improvisation as Django recorded it a couple of times with only slight variation. Rather, I believe it to be a pre-conceived piece that is meant to have an improvised feel to it like a Schubert Impromptu, for example. In Michael Dregni's book "Django, The Life and Music of a Gypsy Legend" he describes 'Improvisation (#1)' as being completely made up on the spot in the recording studio. So it's entirely possible that I'm wrong and that #2 was recorded the same way. Then, when Django wanted to record it again, he already knew how it "went". One of the few pieces Django recorded fingerstyle. If only he'd lived to record more. Imagine an entire album of Django fingerstyle work!! One of the many what-if's we are sadly left to ponder.
