Gospel of John | Paths to Peace

Last Sunday, we gathered around John 16:16-24 to unpack what Jesus means when he promises his disciples "joy in the full". It’s not surface-level happiness or simply being optimistic—it’s the collision of God’s sacred presence with our ordinary lives as we abide in Christ. Rather than simply removing our difficulties, God transforms our sorrow from within, using life's hardships to shape our faith. Because Jesus gives us direct access to the Father in prayer and his presence through the Holy Spirit, we can boldly ask for and receive a lasting joy that no circumstance can take away. In a world filled with constant noise, sudden trials, and unpredictable seasons, true peace can often feel like an abstract idea. As if it’s something we hope to experience "one day" rather than now. Yet, as Jesus shares his final words with the disciples before the cross, he speaks directly to the trouble we face and offers a promise that changes everything. This Sunday we continue the gospel journey with John 16:25-33. Together we’ll look at how Christ invites us to experience a deep, steadying peace in the middle of life's complexities—not by avoiding the chaos, but by abiding in the person who has already overcome the world.
