Our fan-made sequel teaser follows Miguel from guitar performances among the living to the glowing streets of the Land of the Dead, where a reunion with Mamá Coco gives this imagined story its emotional heart. Music and the Rivera family sit at the centre of this Coco sequel concept. Miguel carries his guitar through familiar streets, performs for a crowd and appears as a skeleton musician in the Land of the Dead. The teaser brings together family memories, marigolds and the connection between generations. Because honestly, if we’re heading back into Coco’s world, I want those family moments to mean something! Mamá Coco’s return is one of the biggest moments in our imagined Coco 2 trailer. Seeing Miguel embrace her again gives us a chance to explore their relationship in a different setting, with music continuing to connect them. Heck, I was meant to be making a teaser, not giving this fat old Yeti another reason to get emotional over animated grandparents! Then there’s Ernesto de la Cruz. Our Coco 2 villain concept brings the singer back into Miguel’s path, turning a warm reunion into something considerably more worrying. The teaser contrasts Ernesto’s black-and-white performance image with his sinister appearance in the Land of the Dead. Miguel looks frightened, Ernesto looks far too pleased with himself, and suddenly that lovely family visit isn’t looking quite so lovely! This fan-made animated movie teaser explores one possible direction for a Coco sequel through Miguel’s music, Mamá Coco’s reunion and Ernesto’s return.
