PADI (Open Water) Certification – Day 2 | Diving the Navy Reefs, Trincomalee, Sri Lanka 🇱🇰🤿

Back with Day 2 of my Open Water certification journey — and this time we're diving the incredible Navy Reefs on Sri Lanka's east coast, Trincomalee. This site is massive — you could do 10+ dives here and still not cover it all. In this video: two dives going down to ~18 meters, a safety stop, skill practice underwater (including my 13-year-old son nailing his regulator recovery demo — his buoyancy control might already be better than mine!), sunken statues from the nearby Konesharam Temple now home to reef fish, and my father — a commercial diver — showing what minimalist, no-BCD diving looks like after a lifetime underwater. This dive was completed with Sri Lanka Diving Academy, led by instructor Lakshan Mutukuda, whose father was Sri Lanka's very first diving instructor. Why I'm making these D-Blogs (Dive Blogs): when I started this certification journey, I couldn't find real, honest footage online showing what the experience is actually like from start to finish — not polished reels, just the real thing.
