HOW TO RESTORE AN OLD TOOL (VINTAGE CARPENTERS ADZE RESTORATION)

In this video , I show you how to restore an old tool! A vintage carpenters adze! Using only what was in my shop , I managed to get some great results using simple techniques . You can definitely go into more detail than I did the sky is the limit on the amount of time and effort you put into your restorations. All you need is a type of grinder , a wire wheel , grinding disc , and various abrasives that go from course to fine . The more polished you desire the finish to be the more steps you will need to take . Starting with the wire wheel I removed the heavy dust and debris followed by removing casting marks and sharp edges with a grinding wheel. Then using a flap disc i further refined the finish and lastly I used a cleaning pad on the grinder to give it a finer polish . The adze has been used in one form or another for 10,000 years ! By restoring these two old adze we can ensure that these will continue to carry out there ancestors work into the future.
