john Lan – Run Boy Run // Post-Punk / Darkwave

*john Lan – Run Boy Run // Post-Punk / Darkwave* Sometimes you have to leave everything familiar behind before you can discover who you really are. “Run Boy Run” follows a young man breaking away from a life that has tried to define him. With midnight bells behind him and an open road ahead, he runs through fear, exhaustion, and uncertainty toward something he can finally call his own. The world he leaves behind still holds its shadows, but he refuses to let the past decide his future. Beneath the urgency of the music lies a deeper struggle: the fight to reclaim your identity when the life you've known begins to feel like a cage. The turning point comes when running stops being an escape and becomes a choice—to live, to change, and to write a different story. By the time morning arrives, the destination matters less than the decision to keep moving. Driven by a restless bassline, pounding drums, chiming electric guitars, warm analog synths, and powerful, emotive male vocals, this post-punk and darkwave anthem captures the tension between fear and freedom. Dark, urgent, and ultimately hopeful, it moves from the pressure of the night toward the promise of a new beginning. For anyone who has ever felt trapped by their past, their surroundings, or the person others expected them to become. ✦ *Genre:* Post-Punk, Darkwave, Gothic New Wave, Indie Rock ✦ *Mood:* Urgent, restless, defiant, hopeful ✦ *Themes:* Freedom, escape, identity, courage, self-discovery, new beginnings ✦ *Sound:* Driving melodic bassline, pounding drums, chiming electric guitar, warm analog synths, powerful emotive male vocals When you finally decide to leave an old life behind, what do you think takes more courage—the first step away, or the journey into the unknown? © & ℗ john Lan.
