KIPP NYC Leader Leslie-Bernard Joseph on Why Power, Not Just Knowledge, is True Freedom

In this episode of Leader to Leader, host Darryl Cobb, President of the Charter School Growth Fund, sits down with Leslie-Bernard Joseph (LBJ), CEO of KIPP NYC, a network of 18 schools serving nearly 10,000 students and almost 5,000 alumni across Brooklyn, Harlem, Washington Heights, and the Bronx. Leslie-Bernard reflects on his journey as a first-generation American and child of Haitian immigrants. He shares a pivotal childhood moment of housing insecurity that shifted his perspective on education and served as his origin story, leading him from Deerfield Academy and Princeton to Teach for America, Stanford Law School, McKinsey, Harlem Children's Zone, and leading a charter school, Coney Island Prep.
