Design 3 Checkered Patterns In Canva

Hello! Welcome to The Crafty Oasis! Today we are making our own checkered pattern in Canva. Three, actually. Pattern 1: Traditional Checkerboard Pattern 1. Create a new design at 2400px x 2400px. 2. Grab a square shape from Elements. Make sure it is a shape and not a graphic. This ensures the size on all sides can be manipulated. 3. Select the square and go to Position then Advanced. Change the size to 480px wide x 480px high. 4. Change to your desired color by navigating to the colorful circle and selecting a new color. 5. Duplicate the square until there are 13 colored squares. 6. Arrange the square into the checker pattern, alternating your colored square, white space. 7. Your checkered pattern is complete. Pattern 2: Buffalo Plaid or Gingham 1. Duplicate the checkered pattern page. 2. Delete everything except the first colored square. This gives you the most room on the canvas. 3. Duplicate the colored square. 4. While it is still selected, change its size to 699.5px wide x 84.8px high. 5. Duplicate this four times for a total of five rectangle stripes. 6. Group the five rectangles and rotate 135•. 7. Arrange the grouped rectangle stripes right next to the colored square, ensuring the bottom left corner of the group is overlapping the colored square. There should also be a tiny white rectangle at the top left. Make sure the tiny triangle is equilateral (all the sides are the same size) or as close as you can get. 8. Select the colored square and duplicate so there are five across the top. This will initially cover the stripes. 9. Drag the second colored square from the left down below the stripes until it is centered. You will see purple lines indicating this. 10. Leave the third colored square where it is. 11. Drag the fourth colored square down just like the second. Currently it will appear like a traditional checker pattern. 12. Duplicate the colored square 8 more times for a total of 13. 13. Continue arranging the colored squares into a checker pattern until you fill the canvas. 14. Duplicate the stripes and place anywhere there is white space. There should be a tiny triangle on the top left corner each time. You will have a total of 12 stripe groups. 15. Move each stripe group backward if necessary. This will result in the final design. Third Pattern: Plaid or Checkers With Cross Hatching 1. Duplicate the Buffalo Plaid page. 2. This time we are going to think in small groups of four. When looking at the page, we are counting the first two squares across and down. It should be colored square, stripes for the first row. For the second, stripes then colored square. Delete the stripe group from the second row leaving white space. 3. Repeat this all the over moving from left to right then up and down. 4. Your final pattern should now be complete.
