Life with Babaji| Sambasada Kunj: Where Babaji’s Divine Presence Still Lives|

On 29 July 2026, Anjana Ji visited the sacred Sambasada Kunj Ashram in Vrindavan, where she spent two deeply spiritual days experiencing the divine atmosphere of this holy Dham. Accompanied by fellow devotees, she explored the temple and rooms associated with the lives of Mahendra Maharaj and, later, Bole Baba, while offering prayers and remembering the divine presence of Haidakhan Babaji. Every year, devotees traditionally visit Sambasada Kunj during Guru Purnima. This sacred tradition is believed to have begun with Haidakhan Babaji himself. Devotees believe that Babaji continues to bless those who visit this holy place, with some experiencing His subtle presence or receiving His Darshan in mysterious and divine forms. The Sacred History of Haidakhan Babaji’s Idol The history of the idol of Haidakhan Babaji at Sambasada Kunj is itself filled with profound spiritual experiences. The idol was approved by Mahendra Maharaj following the earnest request of Shri Giridhari Lal Ji, brother of Shri Vishnu Dutt Shastri Ji. The idol was created by expert sculptors in Jaipur and was later consecrated at Kathghariya Ashram near Haldwani on 5 March 1958. But the day before the consecration, on 4 March 1958, a remarkable divine event took place. Around 11 PM, while devotees were immersed in Bhajans, the atmosphere suddenly became intensely devotional and emotional. A mysterious flame appeared before everyone and moved around the temple. Then, according to the devotees present, Haidakhan Babaji appeared in physical form. Babaji first went towards the ladies seated beneath the Peepal tree and blessed them. He then entered the temple. Devotees witnessed His form from a short distance, and He remained visible for approximately ten minutes before disappearing. In this extraordinary way, Mahendra Maharaj's heartfelt wish was fulfilled, and the devotees received what they experienced as Babaji's direct blessing. The Divine Experience of Vishnu Dutt Shastri Ji The following day, Mahendra Maharaj asked Vishnu Dutt Shastri Ji to recite Sada Chit Amrit, which was still being written at the time. As Shastri Ji recited the sacred text inside the temple, he became completely absorbed in it. During this profound spiritual experience, he perceived Haidakhan Babaji seated at the very place where His idol stood, surrounded by seven great monks offering their prayers. Shastri Ji experienced what devotees describe as being transported into another plane of the spiritual realm—an experience that became an important part of the sacred history associated with Babaji's idol. Later, the idol of Haidakhan Babaji was brought to Sambasada Kunj in Vrindavan, where it was installed and worshipped. Later, when Haidakhan Babaji appeared in the form known as Bole Baba, He instructed that an idol of Mahendra Maharaj also be created. The idol was consecrated and placed beside Haidakhan Babaji's idol. It is believed that Bole Baba Himself would visit Sambasada Kunj on Guru Purnima, blessing the devotees gathered there. Since then, Guru Purnima at this sacred Vrindavan Ashram has remained a deeply cherished tradition for devotees of Haidakhan Babaji.
