Two lion prides fight over a cub

Watching the Kambula lionesses and their four cubs feeding on a wildebeest kill, we suddenly noticed the Nsevu Pride approaching. The Kambula Pride was quickly chased from the kill, although the initial confrontation was surprisingly subdued-perhaps influenced by the fact that the two prides shared a history, with both lionesses having once belonged to the same pride. As the Kambula lionesses retreated, one cub was left behind. The Nsevu lionesses quickly noticed and made a move towards it, prompting the Kambula mothers to turn back and aggressively defend their cub.
