Deep within the Appalachian Mountains are stories that have survived for generations: witches said to ride their victims through the night, creatures hiding in remote forests, mysterious lights, cannibalistic beings, ghosts, omens and things that refuse to fit comfortably into any explanation. Tonight, we journey through the darker folklore of Appalachia, from old mountain witch tales and Cherokee legends of Spearfinger, the Raven Mocker and Uktena to the Wizard Clip, Screaming Jenny, the Snallygaster, the Brown Mountain Lights, the Flatwoods Monster, Mothman and modern encounters with the terrifying Not-Deer. These are the horrors and folklore of the Appalachian Mountains.
