A very particular and rare moment at the solstice of the austral summer and at 65 degrees south latitude.
A zodiac outing allows you to capture, by means of a gyrostabilized camera, at the level of the waves, the magic of colors operated by the very particular position of the sun.
Instead of disappearing below the horizon as during a classic sunset, the star descends very low, grazes the horizon line (often around midnight sharp), and then begins its ascent directly for a new day.
As the sun stays very low for hours, the light passes through a very thick layer of atmosphere, bathing the icy landscape in continuous shades of pink, orange, and purple.
The description and images echo those of the great explorers.
