Build a simple spline jig for stronger miter joints using just four pieces of plywood, glue, and screws. In this video, I walk through the build and show how the jig helps you cut consistent spline slots at the table saw. I cover sizing the jig for your boxes, cutting the dados, checking workpiece and blade clearance, and adding a viewing window to make blade-height adjustments easier. Then I assemble and finish the jig before testing it on a box, installing the splines, and planing them flush. It’s a straightforward shop project you can build in an afternoon and put to use on your next mitered box. If you enjoy woodworking projects, traditional tools, shop-made jigs, and figuring things out along the way, consider subscribing to Bearcat Woodcraft. I've got plenty more projects on the way.
