Nairobi to Maasai Mara Road Trip 🇰🇪 | Narok SGR Construction & Scenic Kenya. Join us on a complete 49-minute road trip from Nairobi to the world-famous Maasai Mara in Kenya. This journey takes us away from the busy capital, through the Great Rift Valley and across Narok County before entering the beautiful open landscapes of Maasai country. Along the way, we recorded changing scenery, roadside communities, towns, trading centres, farms, vehicles and everyday life on one of Kenya’s most important tourism routes. This video gives travellers a realistic view of what the journey from Nairobi to Maasai Mara looks and feels like by road. One of the most timely moments occurred in Narok County, where we encountered young Kenyans working on the construction of the Naivasha–Kisumu–Malaba Standard Gauge Railway extension. We stopped to document the activity and learn how the infrastructure project is creating employment opportunities for local youth. President William Ruto officially launched construction of the Naivasha–Kisumu section in Narok on 19 March 2026. Physical construction activities commenced in Narok in early July following consultations, planning and site inspections. The planned Naivasha–Kisumu main line will cover approximately 264 kilometres, with an additional 8.69-kilometre branch connecting to the proposed new Kisumu Port. The Kisumu–Malaba section will cover approximately 107 kilometres, extending Kenya’s railway network towards the Uganda border. The wider railway corridor is expected to pass through Narok, Bomet, Nyamira, Kericho, Kisumu, Siaya, Vihiga, Kakamega and Busia counties. It is intended to improve the movement of passengers and goods, reduce logistical challenges, support regional trade and strengthen connections between Kenya, Uganda and the wider East African region. This is not footage from an official presidential launch, and President Ruto does not appear in this video. It is our independent road-trip recording of the construction activity and young people we encountered while travelling through Narok County. At the time this video was published, the President’s development tour of Narok had brought renewed public attention to roads, markets, employment and major infrastructure projects in the county. However, this remains first and foremost a Nairobi-to-Maasai-Mara travel vlog. The SGR encounter is one important chapter within a much bigger journey through Kenya’s spectacular Rift Valley landscapes and Maasai communities.
