I was at my non-profit recently and came across this old laptop. It's a Dell Inspiron 1545 from 2010. Old and worthless. Why bother fixing it? Well, I've repaired a number of these in times past during the days where I bought faulty goods to fix and sell on eBay. Why not take a trip down memory lane and fix one more of these things for the road? Besides, I now run the Birmingham Device Bank so once fixed, this laptop would go to a recipient who otherwise couldn't afford or access a machine. That makes this one worthy enough if you ask me. I ended up repairing (not replacing) the charging port, changing the battery, cleaning everything, upgrading the CPU and installing Linux. Follow along as I give this old laptop a new lease on life and make it useful for a few more years to come. HDD cover model: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:729...
