Why Mistakes Make Better Stories

Perfect characters rarely make interesting stories. People misunderstand situations, trust the wrong people, act emotionally, ignore good advice, make assumptions, take unnecessary risks, and sometimes choose to do something that they know is probably not a good idea. The characters in your story should be allowed to do the same.
