The game was completed in one go, without using the rollback feature. I know, I can't prove it, but believe me that it's true)
Level 1 is easy to complete, but playing it is fun too, as it gives plenty of opportunities to fight squadrons in "space". Level 2 and especially 3 require fast destruction of all enemy bases at Procyon system, as their ships are much faster to attack player's planets and are constantly coming in overwhelming numbers.
"Star Raiders 2" (1986) is wery well made space arcade game. Although it involves space thematics, it really shouldn't be put into category of space simulators, as, for example, "Elite" (1984). It more like first person "Space Invaders" with possibility to navigate the offered space map - player's Celos IV star system with 4 planets and enemy's Procyon system with 3 planets. The game mechanics is more arcade-like and require fast actions; "space physics" also is simplified to be more "arcade'n'action"-like.
Although simple, the game horrifyingly filled with idea of genocide. You have to wipe out the entire population of Zylon Empire in Procyon system on three planets Morkoth, Gaon and Zylon, or they will do the same to your four planets Seridus, Arcanum, Teris and it's moon Imbri in Celos IV system. Technological level of Zylons is much lower than Celos IV system inhabitants'. But, Celos IV people posess only one, but incredibly powerful ship (you), while Zylons have great numbers and will come constantly until their three planets are not completely cleansed of signs of sentient life.
If holded in the ones' mind and actively considered during walkthrough, this genocidal idea of the game can make even more horrifying impression in this simplification of Spectrum ZX graphic.
