Recording My Voice With Very Outdated Tech : Sony MiniDisc Recorder

In this video I do a recording test with my Sony MiniDisc recorder. I bought this device secondhand last year, and I have had lots of fun with it. I first discovered Mini Disc recorders in the 90s, and since then I have always wanted to get one! The model of my MiniDisc recorder is MZ-R91. From what I understand, this model was manufactured in 1999. I purchased mine from a vendor in Japan, and it works quite well. I think I payed less than $50 for it. You can also still buy blank minidiscs rather easily. Even though this format is no longer manufactured, it is rather easy to find new old stock online. You can purchase these blank minidiscs for very affordable prices. I got mine for roughly $8 Canadian each. The only thing I find about this device is that when you try to record, it can be very noisy. Also, at times it is very finicky, and actually can take a while for recording to actually begin. But again, this is very vintage tech, so expectations should not be too high. In this video I record my voice through a Sony lavalier microphone, which is plugged directly into the recorder.
