The Henry 1860: The History of America's First Successful Lever Action

Derived from innovations pioneered by Smith & Wesson and the Volcanic Arms Company, the Henry Rifle was known as the world’s first successful lever action repeater. Its introduction just before the American Civil War couldn’t have been timed any better. With that, the New Haven Arms Co. would get a kickstart. The Henry 1860 was popular with Union and Confederate Soldiers, as well as hunters, and trappers during the expansion west. It even saw use by Native American warriors during the Battle of Little Bighorn.
