I Thought I Was Going to DIE on This Climb | Cneifion Arête

This adventure starts in my previous video, where I climbed up to Cneifion via the Idwal Staircase. 🔗 Previous video — Climbing to Cneifion via Idwal Staircase:    • I Nearly Slipped Soloing Idwal Staircase &...   Back out for another adventure in the Welsh mountains — this time taking on Cneifion Arête, completely solo and without ropes. 🏔️🥾 After making my way up towards Cneifion via the Idwal Staircase, I headed onto one of the most exposed scrambling routes I’ve tackled in Wales. Cneifion Arête is graded as a Grade 3 scramble, with multi-pitch Diff graded rock climbing, and the route quickly becomes steep, exposed and incredibly committing. And this time, I decided to climb it completely free solo. No rope. No protection. No safety net. From a distance, the arête looks incredible — a narrow line of rock rising above Llyn Idwal and surrounded by some of the most dramatic scenery in the Glyderau. But once you’re actually on the rock, the exposure becomes very real. There were several moments where the moves became difficult and committing, with huge drops beneath me. Knowing that a slip on certain sections could have fatal consequences makes every movement that little bit more serious. This wasn’t about rushing to the summit. It was about staying calm, trusting every movement and climbing within my ability while taking in one of the most incredible pieces of rock I’ve ever climbed. From the approach via the Idwal Staircase to the exposed climbing of Cneifion Arête, this was a day of solo scrambling, free solo climbing, exposure and adventure in the Welsh mountains. 🏔️ I’ll let the video tell the rest of the story. 🚁 Drone Footage Huge credit to The Bald Scrambler for the incredible drone footage featured throughout the video.
