🔧 *Built for Johnny – An XJ Life | Episode 2* The father-son Jeep Cherokee XJ build continues! This time, Johnny and I are getting underneath the Jeep, opening up the differentials, and finding out exactly what we're working with before the next phase of our Rubicon build. We discover a stubborn, chewed-up differential-cover bolt that requires an extractor, check out some old trail scars, and finally get a look inside the axles. *What did we find?* ⚙️ 50 ring gear teeth ÷ 11 pinion teeth = *4.55:1 gearing!* Even better, we confirmed that the front and rear differentials have matching gear ratios, and the rear gears looked good with no broken teeth observed. *In this episode:* Planning how to support the XJ's unibody Opening the front differential Tackling a damaged bolt with an extractor Inspecting the ring and pinion gears Confirming our axle gear ratios Checking the rear differential 🚙 *COMING UP IN EPISODE 3:* We'll be getting the Jeep's unibody properly supported on jack stands and removing the entire front axle as we prepare for the next stages of the build. Our goal? Build this Cherokee together and take it on the legendary Rubicon Trail in 2027! This channel isn't just about building a Jeep. It's about spending time together, learning new skills, overcoming challenges, and creating memories along the way. 💬 *QUESTION FOR YOU:* If you're running 37-inch tires on your Jeep XJ, what gear ratio are you using?
