Instead of the wild, aggressive style, he plays it more melodic and controlled—and it fits the song perfectly. The lead vocals are actually handled by Jack Blades, and he absolutely delivers. Smooth, emotional, and powerful—exactly what this kind of ballad needs. You can also hear the influence of Tommy Shaw throughout, especially in the harmonies and overall songwriting. Everything feels polished and intentional, like a perfect blend of all their styles coming together. This is one of those classic power ballads that builds just right—starting soft and emotional, then opening up into a huge, soaring chorus. And once that hook hits—“Can you take me high enough…”—it’s stuck in your head instantly. That’s arena-level songwriting right there.
