🔥 Found Gold in a 100-Year-Old Lighter | Unique Restoration 🛠️

Today on my workbench I have an extraordinary find — a hundred-year-old Feudor lighter, discovered at a flea market. Its authenticity is confirmed by the French Ministry of Finance tax seal, which certified legality and tax payment. Usually, this stamp had a bone shape, but round versions were also used. On the earliest excise seals, the year of manufacture was indicated — most often 1911, during the period from 1911 to 1916. Around 1920, the mark changed: the letters C and I (“contributions indirectes” — indirect taxes) were intertwined on either side of a circle. This helps to date such lighters. Later, around 1926, another, rarer stamp appeared — BL, which was used on more expensive luxury lighters. The condition of this particular piece was poor: cracks, deep corrosion, dents — the seller found it buried in the ground with a metal detector. How many years it spent there remains a mystery. But the most incredible part — inside the lighter I discovered pieces of gold jewelry. Only about half a gram of gold, but the emotions from such a find are indescribable! Someone once hid it in the lighter and then lost both the gold and the lighter itself. Perhaps it was a jeweler who didn’t have a proper case at hand. Or maybe a thief, who decided to stash his loot in an inconspicuous place. Or perhaps just a random person who hid their finds for safekeeping? One can only speculate — and that makes the story even more fascinating. In old catalogs I found this model listed under the brand Feurex, produced at the Labat & Cannac factories, where it was called Decor Maroccan. But the lighter itself is clearly stamped Feudor. Digging into the internet archives, I managed to find a Feudor catalog featuring this model, although without an exact name. It’s unclear who borrowed the design from whom: perhaps the companies were partners, or it might have been a case of rebranding. The mystery remains unsolved. Interestingly, the lighter is also marked with the number 692, which could possibly be a serial number.
