Romeo and Juliet is a tragic play by William Shakespeare about two young lovers from feuding families, the Montagues and the Capulets. They fall in love at first sight, marry in secret, but a tragic chain of misunderstandings leads to their untimely deaths. In the ending of the story Juliet wakes up in the Capulet family tomb and finds Romeo dead beside her from poison. She kisses his lips, saying she hopes a "poison yet doth hang on them" because the kiss does not poison her, she takes Romeo's dagger, stabs herself, and dies on his body.
