Hello 😊 Here’s my transcription of Stevie Wonders version of the Rodgers and Hammerstein song "Hello Young Lovers". This track comes from his 1969 album My Cherie Amour. The bass player was James Jamerson. You can find this transcription on Muzento under the Advanced Songs category. I can't say that I'm familiar with this song from Stevie. But it's got that classic Motown sound from Stevie that we all love mixed in with a bit of a big band feel. Very musical theater sounding in my opinion (Rodgers and Hammerstein). Bernard Purdie and Jamerson really drive this song forward. It's like a train that's out of control...there's no stopping it! :) This one was deceptively difficult. It sounds manageable at first, but once you sit down with it, you realize how fast it really is and how bold some of Jamerson’s rhythmic ideas are at that tempo. He was fearless! Like I said there are some tricky rhythms, but what makes it even more difficult is putting it all together at that tempo! It's amazing to think it was probably different every time and that he was probably reading chord changes for the most part. What took me all week to do, he probably did in a few takes. That's one of the reasons he's a legend I guess ;) The best advice I think I could give to get through this one (besides working on the rhythms before hand) is to keep your touch fairly light and count. When I say "count", I don't necessarily mean to count every beat and every rhythm that you see, but I find it really helps me to count certain beats or rhythms to stay on track and keep hearing and feeling the subdivision. I played this one alone with a drum beat from an app called Drum Genius and this is a really solid line. I hope you give it a try like that too. The line stands on it's own with just drums and bass. This one is not for the faint of heart. You may want to pack a lunch...and your dinner ;) Thanks for watching 🙏 I hope you give it a try and have fun doing so 😊 Don’t forget to like and subscribe 😊 -------------- If you appreciate what I do and or find it helpful, I hope you might consider supporting me through the following: GregsTranscripts - https://gregstranscripts.com/ ** Signup to the mailing list and get notified every time there's a new transcription! https://gregstranscripts.com/#subscribe Muzento - https://www.muzento.com or you can make a donation through PayPal at: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted... ------------------- Copyright Disclaimer: Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for fair use for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research.
