Jaguar will charge £130,000 for its new car. Not a special edition — the starting price. In America it starts at $130,500, against the $60,000–70,000 that, according to Jaguar's own boss, its cars used to sell for. In January, Jaguar registered just 6 new cars in Britain. Tonight in New York, it finally revealed the car that's supposed to fix that. This is the Jaguar Type 01, the car Jaguar stopped building everything else for. This video covers everything revealed: a 5.2-metre, four-door electric grand tourer with no rear window, around 1,030PS from three motors, 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds, a 120kWh battery and up to 450 miles on the official WLTP test. It will be built in Britain — assembled at Solihull, with motors and batteries from Wolverhampton and body panels from Halewood. Orders open in early 2027, with production starting the same year. Then who it's really for. More than 50,000 people have registered interest, and 78% have never owned a Jaguar. And managing director Rawdon Glover on what buyers rated the design: "We're not interested in sixes, sevens and eights." Plus the first reactions — a 9/10 review, a "half-price Rolls-Royce" — the honest case for it, and the honest case against: a £130,000 electric luxury car arriving in the market that just humbled Porsche, Mercedes and Lamborghini, from a brand with nothing new to sell in Britain since November 2024. And what it means if you already own an XE, XF, F-Pace or F-Type. Would you buy one at £130,000 if you had the money? Is this the comeback Jaguar needed, or is the Jaguar you remember gone for good? Tell me which Jaguar you've owned.
