Wet RED OAK she said let it WARP, if it cracks, (it did) favorite color is green. Natural edge wood bowl In this ASMR wood turning video, I show how I made a wood bowl from this piece of a wet red oak log I saved. My Mother in-law's favorite tree had to come down due to disease and termites/carpenter ants. So this is one of many pieces I will be making for her. I rushed this project so she could have something sooner than later from the tree. Usually I would not rush the drying process, which likely caused this piece to crack. I find the colors, medullary rays and grain patterns to be stunning in this piece. Making for an artistic piece of home decor. I hope you like it! I sanded to 220 grit. Then used a green tinted uv resin to fill the cracks. I sanded that back and then used a uv resin finish on the bowl to seal and protect the wood.
