Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door - Sha’arei Shamayim

Today is Hoshana Rabbah, the final day of pleading in the High Holiday season - an echo of N’ilah on Yom Kippur, when we pray that the gates of heaven, Sha’arei Shamayim, remain open to our voices. This year, as October 7 approaches, we are still carrying so much grief, still praying for healing, still knocking on heaven’s door for strength, compassion, and peace. May our prayers be answered. Wishing you a Shabbat Shalom and Chag Sameach. — Credits: Live from Yom Kippur at Park Avenue Synagogue, New York City - September 21, 2026 Featuring: Noga Preis Music: “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” by Bob Dylan; “Sha’arei Shamayim” by Pinchas Bichler Mashup / liturgical adaptation: Cantor Azi Schwartz Arr: Abram Foster Music Director: David Enlow AV: Oscar Acevedo, Terrell Simms, Erik Van Batavia, Justin Goodman www.azischwartz.com
