Margravial Opera House, Bayreuth 2022 Croatian countertenor Max Emanuel Cencic accompanied by the Armonia Atenea orchestra and conducted by George Petrou, focuses in this recital on one of the most famous and notorious star singers of the 18th century. Francesco Bernardi, known as Senesino, was one of the most sought-after castrati of his time. In 1719, George Friedrich Handel heard him in Dresden and immediately hired him for London. Although Senesino and Handel couldn't stand each other, the famous composer nevertheless wrote some of his finest melodies.
