Six sharps, lots of black keys - F♯ major. I played it at the original tempo of 123 BPM. Just before the chorus, there’s this little cha-cha → cha-cha moment (1:20 - 1:22) where only one note in the chord shifts by a half step (F♯aug/C). Such a tiny change, yet it creates a surprisingly beautiful, heart-stirring sound…it felt a little like magic. The melody also changes slightly between the first and second verses to follow the lyrics. I find both versions so charming, so I tried to let the piano sing them as closely as possible to the original vocal. And once again, I’m realizing just how physically demanding playing the piano can be! On days when I’m not quite at my best, one or two full run-throughs can leave me completely worn out.
