I would like to acknowledge the generous financial support of UNFPA in the production of this song, which was created to promote and support the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Kingdom of Tonga. I was fortunate to be a member of the Tonga Delegation that attended the official launch of the SDGs in New York in September 2015, accompanying the then Hon. Minister for Health, Dr. Saia Ma'u Piukala, who now serves as the Regional Director of the World Health Organization's Western Pacific Regional Office. Special recognition goes to Lino Records for their outstanding work in producing the accompanying instrumental track, and to Mrs. 'Ofeina Bourke, the talented sister of Tatafu Lino, whose beautiful voice brought this song to life. The technical production of the video was undertaken by Mr. Pita Fatai and his colleague Tomasi. My sincere thanks to them for compiling such a wonderful collection of photographs and for carefully illustrating the descending and ascending line graphs of live births and deaths, reflecting as closely as possible the message conveyed through the song's lyrics. It has now been a decade since this song was first composed, and with less than five years remaining before the SDGs reach their target date, its message remains as relevant as ever. This song is one of several compositions inspired by the SDGs, and we look forward to sharing more of these songs in the future. As we reflect on the progress made over the past decade, we are reminded that the journey toward sustainable development continues. Through music, we hope to inspire greater awareness, commitment, and collective action in support of the SDGs and the future well-being of the people of Tonga.
