I was impressed with the sound the band had in albums such as "To Each", "Sextet" or "I'd Like To See You Again". It soon became one of my favourite band coming from Manchester, along New Order and Happy Mondays. This live bootleg was recorded during the year 1982, a very busy era for the band since they released two albums : "Sextet" during winter, and "ILTSA" later in the same year. Most of the song performed here are from the later, and they are groovy as hell and pretty accurate to studio versions. Sadly, the quality was not very good, with lot of tape noise and compression. I've EQed most of it, added a little more bass and lowered the treble in order to erase most of the tape noise. This live performance is a gem since ACR bootlegs are pretty rare. This one was partially (6 songs out of 12) released on vinyl back in the 80's, but it seems that my tape is from another source, since "Axis" is not cut (you can hear this version somewhere around youtube). I have two more, one from 1980 (Groningen, Holland) and one from 1987 (Copenhague, DK). I consider uploading both at a later date. A Certain Ratio 1982 were : Simon Topping (vocals, guitars, percs) Martin Moscrop (guitars, trumpets, percs) Jez Kerr (bass, percsn backing vocals) Peter Terell (guitar, percs) Donald Johnson (drums, percs, bass)
