MATD feat. Erja & Gaugolon – AINO | The Kalevala Story

MATD feat. Erja & Gaugolon – AINO Aino is a musical interpretation of one of the most famous and touching stories from the Kalevala, Finland's national epic. In the Kalevala, Aino refuses to become Väinämöinen's wife. She does not want to be owned or controlled. She wants to decide her own life and her own destiny. More than a story from Finnish mythology, Aino can be seen as a powerful story about freedom, independence, equality, and the right to decide over one's own life and body. MATD brings this ancient Finnish story into the present through a combination of modern pop, classical influences, Finnish mythology and traditional Finnish musical heritage. The song features the powerful voice of Erja Siljamo, a classical singer. German producer and composer Gaugolon created the orchestration and production. The music video was created by Mikael Hindsberg and presents a mystical visual interpretation of Aino and the world of the Kalevala. A story that still speaks today Aino's story is centuries old, but its questions remain relevant: Who has the right to decide another person's life? What does true freedom mean? Can equality ever be taken for granted? Aino is a voice for freedom. ABOUT THE KALEVALA The Kalevala is Finland's national epic, compiled by Elias Lönnrot from Finnish and Karelian oral poetry. The story of Aino is one of its best-known episodes. Aino's tragic story has inspired generations of Finnish artists, writers, and musicians. One of the most famous visual interpretations of the story was created by Finnish artist Akseli Gallen-Kallela. MATD's Aino offers a musical perspective on this iconic Finnish story.
