Layers of 3mm glass have been cut and arranged around 4 pre fussed spirals. This is then heated to 930 degrees celsius and held at this temperature. For twenty minutes it is whilst to glass is in molten state that I open the kild for twenty seconds. Periods where I rake over the glass, mixing the molten glass. After 20 seconds the glass has cooled so the kiln is closed to allow for the temperature to rise. On later more complex works multiple firings are required because holding glass at these high temperatures to long can cause the glass to either change colour or cool to a dull finish. The finish product is polished as required. See more glass work at: http://www.theedgeofglass.com
