Malaysia to Hat Yai by Train | A City Rebuilding After Floods

I travelled from Malaysia to Hat Yai by train, arriving in southern Thailand in the days following the recent floods. Instead of flying, I chose the slower route — crossing the border at Padang Besar and continuing on the State Railway of Thailand, letting the journey unfold quietly. This video captures my first impressions of Hat Yai after the floods — not through headlines or dramatic scenes, but through everyday moments: trains arriving, streets reopening, people going about their day, and the city gently finding its rhythm again. I visit Wat Hat Yai Nai, home to one of the largest reclining Buddhas in the world, and spend time at Hat Yai Municipal Park, a place where locals gather for reflection, movement, and rest. Along the way, I observe how the city continues — calmly, resiliently — after a difficult period. This is not a guide, nor a report.
