It emerged from an era when Steve Jobs and Jonathan Ive – Apple's lead designer from 1997 to 2019 – created products like the iMac, the PowerMac and the iPod. First released in April 2006, with its original design rooted in the 2003 PowerBook G4, this 17-inch Intel-based MacBook Pro symbolized a future that never fully arrived.
