India batting coach Sitanshu Kotak has responded to the growing social media demands to include Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in India's T20I playing XI. Speaking ahead of the second T20I against New Zealand, Kotak made it clear that team selection cannot be influenced by social media popularity. Decisions must be made in the best interests of the team. Kotak also expressed concern about the excessive hype surrounding 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, explaining why constant public pressure is unfair both to the youngster and to established openers Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma. He praised Samson's fearless 67 off 33 balls in the first T20I and highlighted the mental strength required to attack from the very beginning despite the risk of early dismissals. Kotak also described Vaibhav as an unbelievable talent with a bright future, while explaining how the youngster can benefit from learning at the international level.
