Operation Walküre was originally a plan by the German Wehrmacht to suppress a possible uprising against the National Socialist regime. It was repurposed by the resistance fighters led by Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg and Major General Henning von Tresckow for their coup plan, which was ultimately to result in the assassination attempt of July 20, 1944.
