During the Protestant Reformation, Martin Luther rediscovered the glorious Biblical truth that sinners are justified by God wherein he imputes or reckons righteousness to them not on the basis of any works done by them but rather wholly by God’s grace in Christ Jesus. It is this doctrine – justification by faith alone – that was at the heart of the Reformation. In this sermon from Romans 1:16-17, we consider why the Gospel is truly good news. It was these verses that led Martin Luther to have an epiphany in rightly understanding the gospel as the good news of God.
