Holding onto Islam in a World That Wants You to Redefine It | Ustādh Muhammad Tim Humble

A talk by Ustādh Muhammad Tim Humble, hosted by the Dawson Muslim Students' Association in Montréal on January 25, 2026. In an era of shifting values and constant social pressure, the definition of a "modern Muslim" is being pulled in a thousand different directions. We are told to adapt, to soften, and to redefine our tradition to fit the mold of the 21st century. But where do we draw the line between integration and assimilation? We ask Allāh ﷻ to reward the Ustādh for his time and benefit, to accept this from everyone who attended and helped organize the event, and to make us among those who remain steadfast. The Prophet ﷺ used to frequently supplicate: يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِكَ Yā Muqallib al-qulūb, thabbit qalbī ʿalā dīnik "O Turner of hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion."
