Machine Gun Kelly — The G-Man Hunt.
George “Machine Gun” Kelly Barnes became one of the most notorious criminals of the 1930s after the kidnapping of wealthy Oklahoma oilman Charles Urschel.
On July 22, 1933, Urschel was abducted from his Oklahoma City home. The kidnappers demanded a ransom of $200,000 and held him for nine days.
The FBI followed the ransom money, investigated locations across several states and eventually tracked George and Kathryn Kelly to Memphis, Tennessee.
On September 26, 1933, federal agents and Memphis police arrested the couple without a violent confrontation.
Kelly was later convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment. He eventually died in federal prison in 1954.
The famous “Don’t shoot, G-Men!” story became part of American gangster mythology, although FBI historical records state that the exact words were probably never spoken.
This original historical storytelling song follows the kidnapping, ransom investigation, FBI manhunt, arrest and eventual downfall of Machine Gun Kelly.
This is an original musical work inspired by documented historical events. The lyrics do not reproduce existing songs, dialogue, recordings or other copyrighted creative works.
