I Took 12 Surfers to a Wave Pool to Fix One Thing

Almost every surfer I coach in LA has the same sticking point. Surfing top to bottom with good timing and speed. It's possible in the South Bay this time of year, but it's difficult, and you don't get enough reps to fix it. That's what the pool is for. This is our third PSSC retreat this summer. I planned on running one. The feedback kept bringing people back, so we kept opening dates. The evening: Private cabana at 4:45. Team check in and briefing at 5:15. First session on the intermediate A-frame, the most consistent and repeatable wave out there, where we build the baseline and stack footage. Video review at 6:45, focused only on goals, not every wave. Sunset session at 7:30 that builds on what the crew told us and what we saw. I'm coaching in the water. Coach Finn is onsite coaching and filming, Owen is on the second camera, and we brought an additional featured surfer in the water for another touch point.
