Mumbai to Belgaum Karnataka Road Trip | We Started Driving Without a Destination

📸 Follow me on Instagram:   / divesh_kubal   🤝 For Collaborations: relaxingweekenddrives@gmail.com Mumbai to Belgaum road trip turned into a completely unplanned 555 km journey to Bhimgad Wildlife Sanctuary — and we didn't even decide the destination until we reached Pune! 🚗 What started as a regular drive from Kharghar with my friend Aditya from Indore slowly became a spontaneous Karnataka road trip. We travelled through the Mumbai–Pune Expressway, Pune, Khambatki Ghat, Karad, Kolhapur, NH48, Belgaum (Belagavi) and finally headed towards Bhimgad Wildlife Sanctuary. The journey started around 7:15 AM from Kharghar, with an early fuel stop and traffic near the beginning of the expressway due to metro work. Once on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway, we encountered foggy conditions, beautiful weather and relatively smooth stretches of highway before reaching Pune around 9:00 AM. The interesting part? Even after reaching Pune, we were still deciding where to go. At 7:15, we finally decided on Bhimgad Wildlife Sanctuary. From there, the drive continued through Khed-Shivapur, Khambatki Ghat, Karad and Kolhapur. We stopped for food along the way, dealt with some traffic before Khambatki Ghat, climbed the ghat with light traffic and continued south on NH48. After lunch in Kolhapur, we crossed into Karnataka, passing through Sankeshwar before reaching Belgaum (Belagavi). The Karnataka roads offered some excellent driving stretches, and by around 4:30 PM, we were in Sankeshwar and continuing towards Belgaum. But the journey didn't go exactly as planned. After exiting NH48 towards Bhimgad Wildlife Sanctuary, we stopped for fuel and continued towards the destination. Around 6:15 PM, we reached Khanapur, but we couldn't find accommodation at Bhimgad. With evening approaching, we had to make another last-minute decision about where to stay. By 7:30 PM, we were back in Belgaum city, and finally managed to find a stay for the night. This is not a perfectly planned road trip. It's an actual spontaneous drive — changing destinations, food breaks, toll plazas, highway traffic, fuel stops, unexpected problems and figuring things out as we went. 🚗 Car & Road Trip Details Car: Maruti Suzuki Brezza Facelift Engine: 1.5L Naturally Aspirated Petrol Transmission: 6-speed Automatic Torque Converter Total journey: Approximately 555 km Route: Kharghar → Mumbai–Pune Expressway → Pune → Khambatki Ghat → Karad → Kolhapur → Karnataka → Sankeshwar → Belgaum → Khanapur → Belgaum 🛣️ Practical Road Trip Notes The destination was decided spontaneously after meeting my friend in Pune. There was traffic at the start of the Mumbai–Pune Expressway due to metro work. Fog was encountered on the early part of the drive. There were multiple toll plazas along the route, including Khalapur, Talegaon, Khed-Shivapur, Anewadi, Kini, Kognoli and Hattargi. We took food and walking breaks during the long drive.
