In 2022, Altrad Babcock was appointed as a Key Delivery Partner under the KDP5 framework, with responsibility for delivering mechanical and process equipment across the full lifetime of PPP, using a multi‑project procurement approach. Their first delivery under KDP5 is supporting the SIXEP Continuity Plant (SCP) — a complex, new‑build infrastructure project critical to Sellafield’s long‑term mission. Altrad Babcock is leading the fabrication and supply of pipework and mechanical equipment, including an impressive 17 kilometres of stainless‑steel pipework and more than 7,000 high‑integrity welds. This work is being carried out at an off‑site fabrication facility in Renfrew, Scotland. Once a disused warehouse, the facility has been transformed into a state‑of‑the‑art fabrication shop, purpose‑built to meet the exacting standards of the nuclear industry.
