Our security is not found in what looks strong, but in the Lord who is our sure 1. The Wrong Foundation — Isaiah 28 • Ephraim’s false security becomes a warning to Judah. • Judah’s leaders reject God’s Word and trust their own plans. • Human refuges eventually fail. • God Himself provides the sure foundation. • The New Testament identifies the cornerstone with Jesus Christ. Chapter Truth When everything around us feels uncertain, God calls us to trust the foundation He has provided. 2. The Faraway Heart — Isaiah 29 • Jerusalem has religious privilege, but her heart has drifted from God. • Outward worship cannot replace inward trust. • Human plans cannot outthink the Creator. • God promises restoration to the blind, deaf, humble, and needy. Chapter Truth God doesn’t want empty religion; He wants hearts that truly trust Him. 3. Running Instead of Resting — Isaiah 30 • Judah turns to Egypt for help against Assyria. • The problem is not planning—it is planning without God. • Egypt looks powerful but cannot provide the security Judah seeks. • God calls His people to return, rest, and trust. • Even after their refusal, the Lord waits to be gracious to them. Chapter Truth Our strength is not found in running for control, but in returning to the Lord and resting in Him. 4. Flesh or Spirit — Isaiah 31 • Judah trusts horses, chariots, numbers, and visible strength. • The real problem is that they do not look to the Holy One of Israel. • The Lord is powerful enough to defend and gentle enough to shelter His people. • Assyria will fall—not because Egypt saves Judah, but because God acts. Chapter Truth Don’t trust created strength more than the God who created it. Christ Connection The sure foundation Isaiah promised has come. Jesus Christ is the precious cornerstone. He died for our sins, rose from the grave, and now sits at the right hand of the Father. Because of who He is and what He has done, our faith is not blind.
