The World Has a SERIOUS Yui Hasegawa Problem!!

Yui Hasegawa might be one of the most dangerous midfielders in women's football—and the scary part is that she doesn't need to score goals to control a game. At Manchester City, Hasegawa has evolved beyond the traditional defensive midfielder. She can dictate possession, escape the press, win the ball back, break defensive lines, and increasingly threaten opponents in advanced positions. Her 2024/25 Women's Super League numbers reveal why she's so difficult to play against. She ranked first among WSL players for possessions won, led midfielders in successful dribbles, and was involved in more shot-ending sequences than any other midfielder in the league. But Manchester City is only half the story. With Japan, Hasegawa has become an important part of a midfield capable of controlling matches at the highest level. Following Japan's dominant 2026 Women's Asian Cup campaign, attention is already turning toward the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in Brazil. So what makes Hasegawa so difficult to stop? And why could her evolution become a serious problem for the world's best teams? This FOOTV breakdown explores her tactical development, pressing resistance, defensive intelligence, attacking movement, and the role she could play in Japan's World Cup ambitions. Because the most dangerous player on the pitch isn't always the one scoring the goals. Sometimes, it's the player controlling everything that happens before them. #YuiHasegawa #womensfootball #FOOTV #manchestercitywomen #nadeshikojapan #womenssuperleague #womensworldcup #footballtactics #womenssoccer #wsl
