At some point, the conversation about being the firstborn can shift. From: “This role was given to me.” to: “What parts of this role am I still participating in?” 👀 Maybe you're always the one who steps in. The one who says yes. The one who fixes it. The one everyone calls. The one who carries things before anyone has even asked. And yes, some of those patterns may have started long before you had much choice. But what happens when you do have a choice? In this conversation, Meg and I talk about accountability within the firstborn role. Not blaming yourself for how the role began, but getting curious about what you may now be reinforcing, accepting, or continuing. Because sometimes we can resent being the person everyone depends on while still automatically stepping into that position every time there is a problem. That is an uncomfortable one. 👀 So we're asking: At what point did you realize that some part of changing the role also required something from you?
