I Spent a Full Day Exploring Barry Island — Here’s What Surprised Me

Barry Island wasn’t actually the plan for this video… but after a pretty rough start to the day, I decided I wasn’t going home. So I headed to Barry Island for a completely unplanned day of walking, resting, eating and exploring — including a few familiar Gavin & Stacey filming locations along the way. This wasn’t meant to be a polished travel guide. It was simply me getting out with the camera, seeing where the day took me and finding out whether Barry Island could turn things around. 🍴 I also ended up doing a completely impromptu mini food review at Whitmore & Jackson, who were brilliant about me filming. A massive thank you to everyone at Whitmore & Jackson for welcoming me in and allowing me to film the spontaneous review. Nothing was arranged beforehand and the food was paid for by me — they were just genuinely lovely about having the camera there. 🎬 And another huge thank you to Mr Parfitt for creating the new Pit & Piston intro you’ll be seeing at the beginning of the videos from now on. I genuinely appreciate the time and effort that went into it. Along the way there’s plenty of Barry Island, a bit of Gavin & Stacey nostalgia, a lot more walking than my body probably wanted me to do, several strategically important sitting-down breaks and my usual completely unfiltered commentary. Sometimes the days you haven’t planned turn out to be the ones worth filming.
