Welcome to the Melbourne Italian Festa & Expo 2026! 🇮🇹🇦🇺 Come along with me as I explore one of Melbourne's wonderful cultural celebrations, held on 17–18 October 2026 at the historic Royal Exhibition Building and Carlton Gardens in Melbourne, Australia. In this episode of Walking Tales by Travel for Sammy, we're experiencing Italian food, traditional music, live performances, dancing, colourful market stalls and the lively atmosphere of Melbourne's Italian community. And there's a special guest you might recognise: Melbourne's dancing personality, Dino De Cunto! 🇮🇹 MELBOURNE ITALIAN FESTA & EXPO 2026 Melbourne has a rich Italian heritage, and the Italian community has played an important role in shaping the city's food, coffee, arts and cultural traditions. From Carlton's famous Lygon Street to the Italian businesses and communities across Melbourne, Italian culture is part of everyday life in this multicultural city. The Italian Festa & Expo celebrates this heritage by bringing people together through food, music, entertainment and community spirit. 🍕 ITALIAN FOOD AND MARKET STALLS What's an Italian festival without delicious food? As we walk through the festival, you'll see food vendors, colourful market stalls and visitors enjoying the celebrations. Italian cuisine is famous for pizza, pasta, gelato, espresso and regional specialities. But Italian food is about more than eating. It's about family, traditions and spending time together. I love exploring community markets because you never know what interesting people, products or experiences you'll discover. 🎶 ITALIAN MUSIC AND DANCING One of my favourite parts of the festival was watching people enjoying the music and dancing. Italy has a wonderful musical heritage, from opera to traditional folk music and dances such as the Tarantella. There's something special about watching strangers come together through music. You don't need to know the language or the dance steps to enjoy the moment. 💃 MEET DINO DE CUNTO! Have you seen this man dancing around Melbourne? Meet Dino De Cunto, a familiar face at Melbourne's Italian community celebrations! Dino has appeared in Preston Market's Italian Day promotions, and I was delighted to capture him dancing at the Melbourne Italian Festival 2026. His enthusiasm and love of music are infectious! Sometimes the most memorable part of a festival isn't the food or entertainment. It's the wonderful people you meet along the way. Dino, keep dancing and spreading happiness across Melbourne! 🇦🇺 CELEBRATING ITALY AND AUSTRALIA Another special moment was Rebecca performing the Australian and Italian national anthems. 🏛️ ROYAL EXHIBITION BUILDING AND CARLTON GARDENS The festival took place at one of Melbourne's most beautiful historic landmarks. Built in 1880, the Royal Exhibition Building hosted the Melbourne International Exhibition and later the opening of Australia's first Federal Parliament in 1901. Together with Carlton Gardens, it is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. If you're visiting Melbourne, this area is worth exploring. Nearby attractions include Melbourne Museum, Carlton Gardens, Lygon Street and the cafés and shops of Carlton and Fitzroy. 📍 FESTIVAL DETAILS Event: Melbourne Italian Festa & Expo 2026 Dates: 17–18 October 2026 Location: Royal Exhibition Building and Carlton Gardens Address: 9 Nicholson Street, Carlton, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Getting there: Tram routes 86 and 96 serve the nearby Nicholson Street area.
