Archaeologists Found a SHOCKING Mystery in Olmec Civilization — Ancient History Rewritten?

The Olmecs remain one of the most mysterious civilizations of the ancient Americas. Long before the Maya and Aztecs, they built enormous cities, engineered sophisticated water systems, moved massive basalt stones across difficult terrain, and created the colossal stone heads that still dominate our image of ancient Mesoamerica. Yet almost none of their names, stories, or written history survived. This documentary explores the strange evidence surrounding the Olmec civilization, including San Lorenzo, La Venta, the 260 day calendar, the mysterious Cascajal Block, and the remarkable discoveries at Cerro Manatí. Archaeologists have uncovered ancient wooden sculptures, rubber balls, jade offerings, and other objects preserved by extraordinary conditions. We also investigate the deliberate destruction and recycling of Olmec monuments, including evidence that some colossal heads may have been carved from older ceremonial thrones. Why were these monuments broken and buried? Did the Olmecs intentionally erase their rulers and transform their own history? And why do seventeen enormous stone faces survive without a single known name? The evidence raises questions that archaeology has not completely answered.
